Check Compatibility
Before diving into the setup, it’s crucial to verify whether your favorite PS4 games are compatible with the FP PS4 emulator. As the FP PS4 emulator is still in early development, it does not support all games. Currently, it can run around 110 games, which accounts for roughly 6% of all PS4 games. Most of the supported titles are 2D and indie games, while 3D games are more challenging to emulate. You can check if your desired game is supported by searching for its title on the compatibility list.
Setting Up FP PS4 on a Windows PC
Download Necessary Files
- FP PS4 Emulator: Visit the FP PS4 GitHub page and download the latest release of the emulator.
- Timmy’s Launcher: This tool helps with easier game management. Download it from Timmy’s launcher GitHub page.
- NWJS Framework: Required for the launcher’s functionality. Find it in the installation section of Timmy’s launcher GitHub page.
- PKG Editor: Use tools like Lip or Breeze PKG to extract your PKG game files.
Create and Organize Folders
- Create a new folder on your PC specifically for the FP PS4 setup. Place all downloaded files into this folder.
- Extract the Timmy’s launcher and NWJS framework files into the newly created folder.
- Run the Windows batch file to open Timmy’s launcher. Close it after it opens to allow the launcher to create necessary folders.
Install and Configure the Emulator
- Extract the FP PS4 emulator files and place them into the “emu” folder created by the launcher.
- Download a PS4 game in PKG format, such as Undertale, and extract it using your PKG editor. Create a new folder within the “games” subfolder of the FP PS4 directory and name it after your game for easy identification.
- Open the PKG editor, locate your PKG game file, and export it as a GP4 project into the newly created game folder. If your game has an update file, repeat the export process for the update and save it in the same folder.
Launch and Play
- Go back to the FP PS4 folder and open the Timmy’s launcher again. Your extracted game should now be recognized by the emulator.
- The FP PS4 emulator has minimal settings, so you can use the default configurations. Note that the emulator supports Xbox controllers but not PS4 controllers, and the buttons will be mapped out by default.
- To start your game, click on “Run Game” in the launcher. If everything is set up correctly, your PS4 game should launch on your PC.
